MPH2050Health of women and children in developing countries(MED)
Dr W Holmes 6 points + 6 x 2 weekday contact hours and 2 x 7 weekend contact hours + Second semester + Macfarlane Burnet Centre Alfred Synopsis: An overview of women and children's health in developing countries using a life-cycle approach, including current health status of women, children and policy trends. Teaching skills to analyse the determinants of women's and children's health in poor communities, and to introduce concepts in the planning, implementation, management and evaluation of effective strategies to promote the health of women and children. Topics covered include gender analysis; reproductive health; maternal and neonatal health; nutrition; children's rights and protection issues; and ageing. Assessment: Written paper + Group presentation + Short answer examination |
