Synopsis: Techniques for estimating the effects of intervention and other variables in clinical research. An overview of measures and issues in clinical research; sampling and inference; selecting items, reducing items and creating aggregate scores; inter-rater and intra-rater reliability; reliability and interval consistency of responses; assessing the validity of measures; responsiveness of measures to significant clinical change; strategies for gathering data; wording of questions and design of response categories; data entry and management and handling of missing.
