Synopsis: In this subject the main theories that underpin counselling practices will be introduced. The basic skills required for successful counselling will also be outlined and opportunities for skill development provided.

Assessment: Essay (2000 words): 40% + Counselling tapes (3 tapes, 30 minutes each): 40% + Personal journal (1000 words): 20%
