Data analysis for business research

(BUS)

6 points + One 1-hour lecture and one 2-hour computer laboratory session per week + Gippsland + Semester one + Prerequisite: entry into BBus(Hons) + Prohibition: BEG4760

Synopsis: On completion of this subject students should have a well-developed understanding of eh principles and techniques necessary to retrieve and analyse date relevant to their research; a thorough grounding in the practical computing skills required for data analysis and thesis writing and the skills required for communicating research results. Students integrate desktop and main frame information technology to analyse data from a variety of surveys, including the Australian Workplace Industrial Relations Survey; the National Social Science Survey; and the Work orientation module of the International Social Survey project.

Assessment: Three written exercises (750 words each): 45% + Report (2000 words): 55%
