Berwick: Ms Jan Schapper (Chief examiner); Peninsula: Mr Peter Bruce; Gippsland, Mr Jeff Wrathall; Malaysia: Ms Adlina Ahmad; South Africa: Mr Silas Tihophane 6 points + 3 hours class contact time for on-campus students (one 1-hour lecture and one two-hour tutorial) + Berwick, Gippsland, Peninsula, first and second semester + South Africa, second semester + Malaysia, first semester + Distance, approximately 12 hours per week, second semester + Prohibitions: MGW2100, MGW1230, MGX1230, MGX1100 Synopsis: This subject is designed to develop students' awareness of communication issues within organisational settings and their own capacity as professionals to communicate effectively. The subject emphasises the importance of effective communication both oral and written, introduces models of communication and focuses on communication as process and transaction. Overall the subject is designed to allow students the opportunity to explore the ways in which intrapersonal, interpersonal, group and organisational communication are experienced within organisations. Assessment: On-campus: Presentation: 10% + Individual assignment: 20% + Group exercise and presentation of report: 30% + Examination (2 hours): 40%.
