Management research methods (pre-honours)

6 points + 3 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: Three second-year management subjects + Corequisites: Two third-year management subjects + Available only to students eligible to take honours in the Department of Management

Synopsis: This subject aims to develop the skills and judgements necessary to operationalise research problems and to design research projects in the management discipline. Students are introduced to the theory of social science research, and to the components of the research process. Additional topics include different types of research design; the conceptualisation and operationalisation of variables; qualitative and quantitative data collection and research techniques; and ethical issues associated with management research.

Assessment: Written (two 1000-word exercises and one assignment 1500 words): 50% + Examination (2 hours): 50%
