MCM5284Emergency medicine 4: Introduction to toxicology(MED)
Dr G Thomson & Dr P Rosengarten 6 points + MMC, Clayton + Alfred Synopsis: In this subject candidates will learn the pharmacological principles underlying the toxic effects of drugs. General management steps covered will include methods of decontamination and drug elimination. In the latter part of the course candidates will learn the specific toxic effects of the common and important drugs and will learn the principles of treatment of those effects. During Semester III candidates will have the opportunity to put into practice some of those principles. Assessment: One multiple choice and short answer questions (50%) + Two written case studies supplied by the supervisor (50%) + Each of these case studies will be worth 25% |
