MCM5283Emergency medicine 3: Life-threatening emergencies(MED)
Dr G Thomson & Dr P Rosengarten 6 points + MMC, Clayton + Alfred Synopsis: In this subject candidates will study the initial assessment and management of the common life-threatening emergencies of children and adults. The emphasis will be on identification of life-threatening problems and then on correction of physiological derangements. Once the general principles have been covered, candidates will explore the differences between resuscitation of children and resuscitation of adults with an emphasis on tailoring resuscitation efforts to patient size, normal physiological parameters and likely disease states. In Semester III candidates will learn the practical application of their knowledge. Assessment: One multiple choice question paper (75%) + One written essay (25%) |
