MCM5282Emergency medicine 2: Emergency medicine research methods(MED)
Dr G Thomson & Dr P Rosengarten 6 points + MMC, Clayton + Alfred Synopsis: In this subject the candidate will develop skills specific to clinical research in emergency medicine. Particular problems explored will include the ethical issues when patients cannot give informed consent; conducting research in busy emergency departments; attracting research funding. The realistic scope for future research in emergency medicine will be examined. Each candidate will prepare a research proposal for assessment and there will be an opportunity for the proposed research to be completed during Semester III if the candidate chooses to do so. Assessment: One written presentation and oral discussion of a comprehensive research proposal on an area of emergency medicine approved by the supervisor (75%) + One critique of a published research paper chosen by the supervisor (25%) |
