Professor Dimity Kingsford-Smith 6 credit points + Three hours of lectures per week + First semester + Clayton + For 2001 only: LAW4171 or equivalent (from 2002, LAW4171 may be a prerequisite) Synopsis: The principle topics include: Arguments for and against financial regulation; Juristic nature of financial regulation; Disclosure in financial regulation; Regulation of ownership and control (takeovers); Regulation of market intermediaries; Powers of investigation and enforcement. Assessment: Short written reports of market visit: 10% + prospectus due diligence exercise: 10% + Research essay (3000 words): 40% + Final examination (1 hour plus 30 minutes reading time): 40% |
