6 points + 4 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: Level C Japanese or equivalent + Corequisites: Level D Japanese Part 1 + Prohibited combinations: JPL2852, JPL3852

Synopsis: Develops skills in reading and interpreting a variety of texts in Japanese, including longer works than are included in other language subjects at this level. Skills in summarising and translating will be introduced and discussion sessions will focus on both textual and linguistic features and content.

Assessment: Mid-semester examination (50 minutes): 15% + End of semester examination (2 hours): 35% + Class performance, including regular quizzes: 20% + Written assignments (equivalent to 1500 words): 30%
