Japanese popular culture

6 points + 4 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: Level D Japanese or permission of the School + Prohibition: JPL2510, JPL3510

Synopsis: This subject offers an advanced level of spoken and written Japanese which is designed to bring the student close to semi-native competence in the language while studying a variety of Japanese popular cultural forms such as television dramas, song texts, comics,fiction and magazine articles.

Assessment: Final examination (2 hours): 45% + Regular class tests: 15% + Oral presentation and seminar participation: 20% + Written assignments: 20% Assessment tasks and criteria will take into account the language level and background of students and research skills will be emphasized.
