Synopsis: Develops skills in reading and interpreting a variety of texts in Japanese, including longer woks than are included in other language subjects at this level. Skills in summarizing and translating will be introduced and discussion sessions will focus on both textual and linguistic features and content.

Assessment: Mid-semester examination (50 minutes): 15% + End-of-semester examination (2 hours): 35% + Class performance, including regular quizzes: 20% + Written assignments (Equivalent to 1500 words): 30%
