ITA3070Italian language IIIA(ART)
A Pagliaro 6 points + 3 hours per week with additional fieldwork + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: ITA2080 or equivalent knowledge of the language Synopsis: The subject is thematically organized and presents a variety of texts regarding aspects of contemporary Italy such as Feminism, Family Laws, immigration, Cinema Nuovo, through which to explore register variations and discourse strategies and actively engage in debates which reflect aspects of contemporary culture. The subject reviews areas of syntax considered problematic and aims at consolidating oral and written expression. Translation is studied to foster awareness of comparative linguistic structures in Italian and English. Assessment: Continuous assessment (5 assignments 40%; class activity 10%; mid-semester test 20%): 70% + End of semester exam (2 hrs): 30% |
