Production, Consumerism and the Environment in the Contemporary World

6 points + 3 hours per week + Second semester + Peninsula, Malaysia, Berwick

Synopsis: This subject provides students with a theoretical and practical introduction to four areas: the organisation of the international political economy as it relates to understanding the choices confronting many states in the contemporary world, production systems and the organisation of work, consumerism and the development of popular cultures, and the impact of economic and social development on the environment.

Assessment: Literature Review (1000 words): 20% + Essay (2000 words): 40% + Oral presentation: 20% + Exam (1 hour): 20%
