Consumer Product Design 2

(A&D)

3 points + First semester + Caulfield + 2 studio hours and 4 independent study hours per week + Prerequisite: IDE2808

Synopsis: This subject is designed to increase awareness of notable examples of consumer product design, particularly Australian-designed and/or developed products. Published material on chosen examples is critically appraised, compiled into a written report and presented to class for discussion. In the selection of design projects, students become familiar with industry classification of product groupings and select from the following classifications: white goods, brown goods, audio and video, power-tools-domestic and trade, office equipment.

Assessment: Assignment-based work: 30% + Studio-based design work: 70%
