IDE1808Geometry and mechanics for industrial design(A&D)
3 points + One 1-hour lecture and one 1-hour tutorial and 4 independent study hours per week + First semester + Caulfield Synopsis: Mathematical functions applied in product design. Geometrical properties; measurement of areas and volumes; trigonometrical functions; composition and resolution of forces; moments of inertia; motion force and work; determination of centre of gravity; specific gravity of various media and weight calculations. Introduction to the strength of materials, stress analysis and factors of safety. Industrial issues and problems. Assessment: Progressive assessment: 50% + Final examination: 50% |
