4 points + 1 lecture hour and 3 tutorial/laboratory hours per week + Second semester + Gippsland + Prerequisite: ENG1101, GSE2401

Synopsis: Application of thermodynamics to refrigeration/heat pumps and air-conditioning. Examination of performance characteristics of the vapour-compression and vapour-absorption cycles. Co-efficient of performance will be evaluation for each cycle. Evaporative cooling towers, of both natural draft and induced draft types, will be examined.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 40% + Assignments and laboratory work: 60%
