GSE3002Sustainable development(ENG)
L Soste 4 points + 2 lecture hours, 1 hour supported self-learning, and 1 hour seminar/discussion group time per week (on-campus) + 8 hours of self-directed study plus a residential school (distance) + Second semester + Gippsland + Prerequisites: GSE2001, GSE3001 Synopsis: This subject integrates the previous work on biological impacts (GSE2001) and sociological/economic impacts of engineering work (GSE3001) to lead engineers into the formulation and management of a multi-disciplinary team as a normal part of their project planning, design and implementation activity. A framework for sustainability in terms of achieving a long-term balance between competing economic, social and environmental needs will be developed. Assessment: Preparation of two small-group case study reports: 50%+ two seminar presentations plus question and answer sessions: 10% each + Examination (2 hours): 30% |
