Synopsis: This subject investigates a range of social and economic processes that contribute to the development of cities and communities in Australia and overseas. It explores the way that communities are identified and how their identity and vitality is associated with growth and change in an urban and regional context. It analyses community formation and identification, analysing processes of inclusion and exclusion. Through Melbourne-based cases students learn how to link these processes to power relations as they occur spatially.
