Applied geography and field studies

6 points + 3 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: A first year sequence in Geography or permission from Head of School + Prohibition: GES3420

Synopsis: The main objectives of this subject are to provide a grounding in research practice and develop familiarity with professional skills. This subject includes an introduction to the characteristics of information and presentation of information and data. Preparation and use of questionnaire surveys, interview and other qualitative research methods. Students develop a research project which they carry out during a four-day field trip.

Assessment: Research report (2000 words): 40% + Practicals: (equivalent to 1500 words): 40% + Examination (1 hour): 20%
