48 points + Clayton + Prerequisites: A distinction level average in 24 points at third year level GEN subjects, or 18 points in GEN and 6 points in a relevant biological or biomedical discipline. Special circumstances: Level 3 subjects from other discipline areas can be counted towards 18 points where appropriate relevance can be demonstrated to the Head of School.

Synopsis: A research project providing practical experience in modern molecular genetics and contributing to the solution of research problems of significance. Students taking this subject will also be involved in group presentations dealing with current topics in genetics. A critical literary review (~5000 words) on a topic distinct from that of the research project is also completed.

Assessment: Research project, written report on the results, an essay and oral presentations
