Synopsis: First semester Heat transfer. Steady and unsteady Convection. Radiation. Heat exchanger design. Second semester Chemical reaction and mass balance in the combustion, energy balance, theoretical and actual flame temperature calculation. Availability and exergy: concepts; availability balance for closed system, flow availability; second law efficiency. Other energy conversion technologies: solar energy application. Principle of fuel cell.

Assessment: Examinations: 60% + Assignment and experimental report: 40%
