Mechanical design III

4 points + 39 lecture hours and 26 tutorial hours + First semester + Gippsland + Prerequisite: GEG2703

Synopsis: Design and selection of mechanical power transmission systems and components; bearings and lubrication systems. Design and selection of fluid power systems. Study of further aspects of design based on fatigue considerations. Design projects will form a major part of this subject. Where applicable the appropriate standards, codes and statutory requirements will be referred to in the design process. Wherever possible, computers will be used in the design optimisation of systems and components.

Assessment: Examination: 50% + Assignments and projects: 50%
