Synopsis: Multimedia file formats; JPEG; MPEG; multimedia electronic mail messages; SMTP; SNMP; MIME; HTTP; MIB-II; Video Conferencing, Video Phone and Internet Phone standards and protocols; Other Internet protocols including address resolution, Bootstrap, domain name system, dynamic host configuration; Internet control message protocol (ICMP), Group Management protocol (IGMP) and message access protocols. Applications development using the standards. Access to the university's computer systems through an Internet service provider is compulsory for distance education students.

Assessment: 2 assignments: 60% + Examination: 40%
