Analysis and design for multimedia

To be offered on campus at Berwick and at Gippsland by distance education + First semester + The subject requires 12 hours study time including attending lectures, tutorials and private study. On campus: 2 hours of lectures and 2 hours of tutorial per week. Distance education: 12 hours private study and communicating with the lecturer and fellow students through email, newsgroups and web pages. No residential component is required. Prerequisites: GCO1811 and GCO1821

Synopsis: Multimedia applications and projects differ from traditional information systems and computing applications in that they noramlly embrace many disciplines, have diverse computation and communication requirements, and are highly interactive. This new subject will cover these new aspects of analysis and design of multimedia applications as well as key methodologies of traditional information system analysis and design.

Assessment: Assignments worth 50% of the total subject assessment. The assignments will test all subject objectives, but will focus on designing multimedia systems using concepts and tools covered in lectures and tutorials. A 3-hour closed book examination. The examination will also test all subject objectives.
