Translation: theory and practice

6 points + 3 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: FRN2020 or FRN2080

Synopsis: Students will "workshop" translations of a variety of texts and present their work both individually and collectively; lectures, class presentations and discussions will explore issues of comparative stylistics, intercultural communication and the history of translation.

Assessment: Two tests (200 words each): 15% + Translation project (1500-2000 words): 25% + Reading report (1500 words): 25%+ Group translation presented in class (300 words): 15% + Translation workshop: 20%
