ETC2410Practical econometrics(BUS)
Associate Professor Heather Anderson and Associate Professor Farshid Vahid 6 points + Two 1-hour lectures and one 2-hour tutorial per week + First and second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: ETC1010 or ETC2010 or ETC1031 + Prohibitions: ETC2400, ETC3440 Synopsis: This subject introduces students to the empirical analysis of relationships between economic variables. The approach is based on linear regression theory, but emphasises 'hands on' data analysis using modern computer software. Topics studied will include properties of least squares estimators, hypothesis testing, the choice of appropriate functional form, the use of dummy variables, and the problems of serial correlation, heteroscedasticity and multicollinearity. Assessment: Written (2 assignments): 40% + Examination (2 hours): 60% |
