ENH1220Reading literature II: worlds in conflict(ART)
C Stevenson 6 points + 2.5 hours per week + Second semester + Caulfield, Clayton, Flexible mode + Prerequisite: ENH1010 Synopsis: The concepts of the /primitive0 and the /civilised0 and the relationships between them as depicted in literary texts from the Renaissance to the present. The /worlds0 of the subject0s title includes individuals (eg the country-dweller and the city-dweller) and national cultures (eg aboriginals and white settlers); in the latter particularly, the conflict between the two is examined in the context of post-colonialism. Assessment: Exercise (1000 words): 20%; + Essay (1500 words): 30%; + Examination (2 hours): 40%; + Class work and participation: 10% + For flexible delivery students, assessment will be by exercise, essay and examination |
