ENG1901Engineering mathematics A(ENG)
Dr S Siems (Caulfield and Clayton) and Dr A Carr (Gippsland) 4 points + 36 lectures and 11 tutorial/laboratory hours + First/second semester, Caulfield + First semester, Clayton + First semester, Gippsland + First Semester, Distance + Prerequisite: VCE Mathematical Methods 3/4 + Prohibitions: MAC1901 or GAS1641 + Students who have obtained less than a grade average of B+ in CATs 2 and 3 of VCE Specialist Mathematics are strongly encouraged to take ENG1901 Synopsis: Solution of systems of linear equations. Polynomial, trigonometric, exponential and logarithmic functions. Complex numbers. Differentiation and applications. Integration and applications. Introduction to differential equations. Vectors in two and three dimensions. Use of computer algebra systems. Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Assignments and tests: 30% |
