EDF6518Cognitive behavioural counselling in rural and remote settings(EDU) Proposed to be offered next in 2002 Dr P Greenway /Assoc Prof D Harvey (Clayton) + Mr G Walker (Gipps) + Dr E Scannell (Caul) 12 Points + Second Semester + Caulfield (off-campus mode) + one-week Residential School + Prerequisite: EDF6517 + No co-requisites + No prohibited combinations Synopsis: This unit extends the theory and practice of cognitive behavioural approaches introduced in EDF6517: Advanced Counselling. It will include an examination of the theoretical and empirical evidence regarding the conceptual bases of cognitive and behavioural theory, efficacy of those theories for specific client problems encountered in multicultural rural and remote practice. Students will apply cognitive and behavioural interventions to specific client issues frequently encountered in rural and remote contexts incorporating multicultural issues Assessment: Theoretical essay (3,000 words) 30% + written evaluation (3,000 words) of the efficacy of cognitive behavioural approaches to a specific client issue 30% + an annotated bibliography 10% + video or audio taped demonstrations of interventions 30%. |
