Synopsis: Recent developments in writing research and practice. Theory and research in the teaching and learning of writing P-12 and in post-secondary contexts. Topics include an historical overview of research in writing; approaches to the teaching of writing; writing narrative and argument; writing and the new technologies; assessing and responding to students0 writing; teaching and learning writing for students from non-English-speaking backgrounds.

Assessment: Assignment (1000 words): 20% + Research paper (5000 words): 80%
