EDF6109Environmental education(EDU) Not offered in 2001 Dr D R Hutton 6 or 12 points + 3 hours per week + First semester + Clayton Synopsis: This biannual unit gives a broad perspective of environmental education (EE). However some bias towards school level approaches, and both formal and informal community education gives a subject design suitable for students from both the Faculty of Education and the Graduate School of Environmental Science. One strand considers the emerging nature of EE and how its particular characteristics can be put into practice at various levels of education. The second main strand looks at the 'environmental problematic,' the complex of global, national and local issues that face mankind. It also considers solutions, and the role of EE is highlighted by a group input into a local issue. Assessment: Selected from, depending on points (essay and factfile of 2000 words, 20%; group project, 35%; letter writing, 5%; debate or meeting, 15%; research essay of 2000 words, 15%; factsheet, 10%): 100% |
