Dr L Bartak, Dr V Lee 24 points + 3 hours per week + Full-Year + Clayton + Prerequisites: Australian Psychological Society accredited major sequence in psychology + Prohibition: GED0151/0152 Synopsis: The unit provides practical training in the design and conduct of an empirical research project. Working with one of the subject lecturers, students will learn how to prepare a research proposal, collect and analyse the data that will form the basis for an empirical report that meets the requirements of the American Psychological Association publication standards. Assessment: In first semester students will complete a proposal for their empirical report submitted in second semester (3000 words): 30% + In Semester 2 students will finalise their data collection, analyse and interpret these data, and submit a report that describes the rationale for conducting the experiment, the design and procedures used, the results obtained, and the implications of these results for future research and practice (written report of 12,000 words): 70% |
