Methods and practice of teaching Visual Arts 1A

6 points + 3 hours per week + First semester + Gippsland (off campus)/Clayton (on campus) + Prerequisites: Two full years of study in studio practice at tertiary level

Synopsis: This unit will provide an introduction to teaching and preparation strategies necessary for the secondary teacher of visual arts. Students taking this unit will have expertise in studio practice; ability in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture or ceramics is required. Students will be encouraged to draw upon their knowledge of studio arts to design and implement lessons suitable for a range of levels in the secondary school.

Assessment: Art biography:20% + Study guides:30% + School experience file (not graded) + Successful completion of supervised school experience 50%
