EDF5456Methods and practice of teaching information technology/computing A(EDU) Proposed to be offered next in 2002 Mr B Holkner (Clayton) + TBA (Gippsland) 6 points + 3 hours per week + First semester + Clayton (on campus) + Gippsland (off campus) + Prerequisites: Two years of computer science or equivalent at tertiary level. Synopsis: The unit will be based on a number of broad objectives which will enable successful students to understand the scope of Information Technology education including the issues of technology facilitated learning. It will further develop students' knowledge of the methods and teaching styles appropriate for information technology learning at all levels of secondary education. Students will gain familiarity with the resources and facilities available to the information technology teacher, and gain experience with the different ways in which information technology can be structured in schools. Assessment: Teaching round observation and reflection 30% (1000 words) + Development of resource materials 70% (3000 words) + Student participation in the unit is vital either on-campus or via the on-line forum. |
