Synopsis: The importance of effective communication in service organisations. Topics include written and oral communication, communicative decision making, advocacy, stress management and the professional relationship between service provider and service user. The caregiver0s role in working with volunteers, students in training and other professionals. The code of ethics for children0s services personnel.

Assessment: Essay and oral presentation: 60% + Structured journal: 40%
