Methods and practices of teaching physical education

(EDU)

12 credit points, Full-year, Gippsland and Clayton campuses by Distance. Prerequisite: Min of 2 years full-time (96 points) at tertiary level in approved physical education studies.

Synopsis: This subject provides a theoretical and practical basis for the design and implementation of a comprehensive physical education program. Students will gain an insight into curriculum content and issues, including an understanding of 7-10 physical education, VCE and VET courses. Students will study the fundamental teaching skills encompassing psychological and physiological aspects in a secondary school program. Students will study the pedagogy of physical education as an important focus which has broad relevance in the delivery of information concerning health and physical education to the community. Students will apply both theoretical and practical learning in a school setting.

Assessment: Four assignments (1500 words each): 15% each, Journal (2000 words): 40%, and satisfactory completion of practicum
