EDF5224Methods and practice of teaching languages other than English (LOTE) Indonesian(EDU)
Dr L Cairns 12 points + Full year subject + Gippsland campus (Distance education) Synopsis: This subject consists of five separate modules each of which deals with a section of the LOTE teaching method course. Module 1 deals with first and second language learning, theory research and practice. Module 2 deals with Technology in LOTE teaching including computer applications and WWW usage. Module 3 deals with Indonesian Grammar, Literature and Cultural aspects and is presented in Indonesian. Module 4 deals with LOTE pedagogy, specifically the teaching of Indonesian and is also presented in the Indonesian language. Finally, Module 5 deals with the completion of 22 days of specific supervised LOTE practicum in schools. Assessment: Assignment 1 (Module 1, 1500 words): 10% essay + Assignment 2 (Module 2, set of materials (1500 word equivalent): 20% + Assignment 3 (Module 3, essay and community interview in LOTE): 30% Assignment 4 (Module 4, Pedagogy tasks: 40% + Students must also successfully complete the 22 days of supervised LOTE practicum to complete the subject |
