Synopsis: Logical calculus, epistemology, metaphysics and moral philosophy and their bearing on education theory and practice. The unit shows how being able to reason in these modes makes a critical contribution of understanding the limits and range of educational practice.

Assessment: Exercise in informal logical analysis (500 words): 10% + 2 essays (1500 words each): 30% each + Examination (2 hours): 30%
