Special Education Practicum Placements 4

6 points + Second semester + Clayton campus + Tutorials 2 hours per week + Practicum Placement minimum 12 days and maximum 15 days per semester + Prerequisites: Prerequisites: EDF3665, EDF3666 or equivalent.

Synopsis: This practicum placement will contribute to students' practical understanding of issues pertaining to inclusion, assessment, collaboration between services and service providers, designing effective teaching interventions including the use of computer technology to assist learning, and curriculum adaptation. Examples of appropriate experiences may include teaching units of instruction, observation and/or assessment that coincides with specialist studies (ie visual impairment) or general studies (ie placements across several different areas of exceptionality). Placement options must be discussed and approved by the Practicum Placement Co-ordinator.

Assessment: Assessment will take three forms: A written report combining a brief review of a selected topic with the design of a corresponding effective teaching and /or curriculum based assessment intervention (1600 words) (40%); a reflective journal emphasising a self-evaluation of teaching skills (1600 words): (40%); a practicum diary - (800 words) 20%.
