Contemporary issues in early childhood

Synopsis: This unit consists of an in-depth examination of a range of current political, social, professional and community issues confronting the early childhood professional (some of which are identified above). Content will vary to some extent depending on the prominent topics at the time. Readings will be taken from current editions of professional and academic journals as well as the media. Because of the nature of this unit, students will be expected to have completed the equivalent of three years of tertiary study before enrolling in it.

Assessment: Essay (1500-2000 words) and oral presentation: 60% + Written project 40%
