Literacy and culture in the curriculum

6 points + 4 hours per week + First semester + Peninsula + Prerequisite: EDF1122

Synopsis: Issues and pedagogy relating to the development of children0s literacy during the primary school years. Reading and writing processes. Teaching methodologies and monitoring procedures, including those appropriate to ESL and LOTE teaching. Children0s developmental understandings of their world and how they can be effective participants in a multicultural society.

Assessment: Written assignment (2000 word equivalence): 50% + Fieldwork project (2000 word equivalence): 50% + Hurdle requirement: Undertaking of set homework tasks and participation in follow up discussion and group work.
