Synopsis: The importance of a range of arts experiences, including music, creative movement, visual art, and drama, for children aged 0-8 years. Philosophical and pedagogical issues in the arts and early childhood education. The role of the educator as facilitator of children0s creative, aesthetic and artistic development. The arts in a multi-cultural society. Young children with special needs and abilities.

Assessment: Assignment (1500 words): 20% + Practical assignment: 80%
