EDF2603Swimming and Water Safety(EDU)
Mr Andrew Cope 6 points + 3 hours per week + First semester + Gippsland + Prerequisites: EDF1301 or EDF1601 or equivalent Synopsis: In this unit students will examine the current body of knowledge relating to swimming and the coaching of swimming and identifies the applications in a range of sports. Theoretical knowledge will include the teaching and learning of swimming, water safety, training methods and the physiology associated with aquatic activity. The unit will also focus on developing student's practical skills in these areas including stroke development, mechanical analysis of strokes, safety and rescue techniques forming part of the assessment. The students will have the opportunity to gain external qualifications (eg. Austswim, Pool Lifeguard or Surf Rescue). Assessment: Class tests: 60% + Two assignments (1000 words each): 40% + Practical S/U |
