EDF2203Curriculum Studies: Primary Studies of Society and Environment(EDU)
Dr J Edwards (Peninsula) + Mr M Dyson (Gippsland) 6 points + First semester + Peninsula, Gippsland + 3 hours per week lecture/tutorial/workshop and nine hours of independent study Synopsis: This unit provides an introduction to the key concepts, teaching and evaluative methods involved in the Studies of Society and Environment curriculum in the primary years of schooling. The unit considers the way in which social, cultural and political meanings are constructed and transmitted within our society and the ways in which learning technologies have impacted on and shaped these meanings. Students will examine a variety of learning environments and instructional material, including inquiry learning, to develop the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes associated with the Studies of Society and Environment key learning areas. Assessment: Written assignment (1500 words): 40% + Examination (2000 words): 60% + Hurdle requirement: 80% for workshop components. |
