Exploring Science

Synopsis: This unit has been designed to provide the opportunity for students to explore science as it is presented for public consumption in the media and in public education programs. Aspects of biological, earth, chemical and physical sciences will be addressed by exploring the science of science fiction movies, science in the media and the work of scientists. Learning technologies and multi-media will be a key component of both research and presentation aspects of this unit assessment.

Assessment: Science fact or fiction essay (2000 words or equivalent) 40% + Science topic group model and presentation: 60% + Hurdle Requirement Attendance at 80% of lecturers and tutorials.
