ECF4200Applied macroeconomics(BUS)
Dr Siang Ng 6 points + Lectures and seminar: 3 hours per week + First semester + Caulfield + Prerequisites: An undergraduate degree with a major in economics, econometrics or finance; or a Graduate Diploma in Economic Studies or a Graduate Diploma in Applied Economics (via Distance Education), or its equivalent Synopsis: The focus is on practical questions about how to achieve national economic growth and control inflation in the context of a global economy, with special attention to policy formulation and implementation and the dilemmas facing decision-makers in the government and private sectors. Macroeconomic forecasting and the methods for analysing the short-term and long-term trends are also considered. Australia's experience during the last two decades, in particular the impact of the Asian Currency Crisis, are examined closely. Assessment: Written (4000-word research report): 40% + Tutorial presentation: 10% + Examination (3 hours): 50% |
