ECF3120Consumer economics and e-commerce(BUS)
Dr Rebecca Valenzuela 6 points + 3 hours per week + Second semester + On-campus, Caulfield + Prerequisites: ECF1100, ECF2100, or equivalent Synopsis: Economic principles underlying consumer choice and demand; economic models of household consumption behaviour; analysis of consumption of durable goods, public goods and environmental goods. The role of government over labelling requirements and other forms of consumer protection; an impact analysis of alternative market structures and a globalising economy on consumer demand; an analysis of the impact of e-commerce on consumer welfare through information content analysis, valuation of e-search mechanisms, and assessment of on-line product trial systems and similar options. Assessment: Case study presentation: 20% + Written assignment: 20% + Examination (2 hours): 60% |
