Generation of electricity using conventional sources(non-renewables). Environmental impacts of non-renewable sources of energy. Generation of electricity using renewable energy technologies; solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, hydro-power, fuel cell, wind power, co-generation, biomass technologies, storage devices, ocean thermal, geothermal, enabling technologies, details of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) energy, Solar PV-Hybrid power systems. Optimization of size of components in solar PV hybrid systems. Cost calculation, performance prediction and performance improvement of solar PV systems. Demand side management. Assessment: Examinations (2 hours): 70% + Assignments: 30% |
